About Apeldoorn Guitar Series
A significant amount of projects organised by Dutch Guitar Foundation concerns the renewal of concert podia for classical guitar in The Netherlands. The city of Apeldoorn was a home of such a podia once. We are incredibly proud to have brought back to the audiences of Apeldoorn their beloved guitar concert series! We are thrilled to announce a versatile line-up for the season 2020/21: Contemporary innovator – Cristiano Porqueddu, the passionate– Kristina Vårlid, the humble & brillant – Campbell Diamond and rising star – Rick Doornbos.

Cristiano Porqueddu is regarded worldwide as one of the best performers of modern guitar music of the 20th and 21st century. Critics labeled him as ‘a reference point for the new generation of musicians’.
Porqueddu initially received guitar lessons from his father, but later studied with the famous Angelo Gilardino.

Kristina Vårlid (b. 1994) from Stavanger (Norway), is already an internationally acclaimed classical guitarist after winning several competitions and awards. Among others she got the 1st prize in Antwerpen International Guitar Competition 2017, finalist and winner of the Koblenz International Guitar Academy Award at the Koblenz International Guitar Competition 2018 and finalist in Tokyo International Guitar Competition 2018. Campbell is an internationally award winning classical guitarist based in Cologne, Germany, and is currently studying privately with Judicaël Perroy in Paris. Campbell has recently finished his Undergraduate study with Hubert Käppel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In 2015 he studied at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy, and prior he studied as a student of Timothy Kain and Minh Le Hoang at the ANU School of Music in Canberra, Australia. Rick Doornbos (1996) is a guitarist from the north of the Netherlands. From the moment he first started playing the guitar at the age of 9, it was clear to him that he wanted to do nothing more than that. In those first years of guitar lessons he was actually already busy with creative things. He’d rather play his own compositions than the pieces he got from his teacher.
