During this year’s edition of the ‘Groningen Guitar Competition & Festival’, you can expect a surplus of extraordinary concerts; there will be a wonderful performance given by Zoran Dukic, a beautiful song program presented by Gabriel Bianco and Marina Viotti, and finally a stunning shared concert featuring Marko Topchii and Jan Depreter. To top it all off, closing out the festival will be our guitar competition’s Grande Finale on the last day, where the five finalists will compete for the first place.

The musical collaboration between French master guitarist Gabriel Bianco and Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti has led to an unparalleled program of classical and modern songs that premiered during the 2023 Koblenz Guitar Festival.
In Gabriel Bianco’s arrangements, the clear, round sounds of the guitar provide indispensable support and complement the warmth of Marina’s voice. Together, they give a unique interpretation to the phenomenon of a “song program.”

The Croatian Zoran Dukic was presented with a guitar at the age of six and has become one of the most distinctive classical guitarists of our time. His performances leave an indelible impression worldwide and he inspired countless contemporary composers to dedicate works to him. He has great admiration of contemporary music expression, but J.S.Bach remains the focal point of his musical life. He has devoted several concert tours to the complete cycles of his lute, violin and cello suites.

A shared concert with Marko Topchii and Jan Depreter
Marko Topchii has won more than 80 awards worldwide in the international guitar competitions in the professional category. Among them, 34 first places in the competitions in United States, Mexico, Australia, Japan, China, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Ukraine.
Known as “the Sound Painter” of the guitar for producing the most fascinating variety and scope in sound colours on the planet, Jan Depreter is considered among the top 10 of performing classical guitarists in the world today.

After a week of enjoying multiple concerts, masterclasses, a guitarEXPO and much more, it’s finally time for the Grande Finale. During the Groningen Guitar Competition & Finale, which takes place from the 19th to the 23rd of February, a maximum of five finalists have been brought together through two rounds of competition. These five finalists will each give a performance of maximum 30 minutes in which they can choose their own repertoire, so a very diverse programme!
After the playing rounds the winner of the Groningen Guitar Competition & Festival 2023 will be announced immediately, accompanied by a prize-giving ceremony!
